Iraqis go to the polls in parliamentary elections as insurgents try to derail voting in a series of attacks

The polls should be closing right about now in Iraq's second parliamentary elections since Saddam Hussein was ousted in 2003. The vote has been overshadowed by violence. At least 24 people were killed in several bomb and mortar attacks in Baghdad and elsewhere. Security is tight across the country. Some 19 million iraqis have been called upon to elect 325 delegates to their council of representatives.
