Kiezläufer: Citizens Patrolling the Streets of Berlin

Since 2002, Berlin has been sending 'Kiezläufer' out to walk the streets of the city and help resolve conflicts. The citizens go on patrol in pairs, and ensure that peace and order are maintained. In the western part of the city they wear vests which identify them as being 'Kiezläufer'.
