Latvian team embeds small electrical generators into clothing

A team of scientists have developed an innovative new technology that uses body movements to generate enough electricity to power electronic gadgets.

Now, over on Russia's western border, scientists in Latvia have been working on a new way to use body movements to generate electricity to power small electronic gadgets. The idea to harness energy released while you walk. Now, this idea has been around for years. Irish scientists, for example, have already designed a backpack which generates electricity using the body’s movements. But now, Latvian engineers have have built a small electric generator which can be integrated into clothing -- specifically into a jacket.
