Life Links: Community Standards

October 11, 2014

We’re glad that you’re joining our discussion - but here are 10 guidelines you should follow:

https://p.dw.com/p/1DTgl

1. We are looking forward to your comments and ideas. However, we will not tolerate personal attacks or “trolling”. Please maintain a fair and objective tone, even if differences of opinion arise. Treat other users as you would like to be treated.

2. Keep it relevant. Stay on topic. Your comments should be closely related to the journalistic content we offer, or to the views and opinions of fellow users.

3. We will remove any racist, sexist, xenophobic, defamatory, discriminating, threatening and offensive comments as well as pornographic content.

4. Chain letters, junk mail, spam, advertisements and content of a commercial nature is also forbidden. Content of this nature will be removed.

5. We reserve the right to edit or move any comment and close any topic for the sake of a robust and interesting discussion. We don't want to keep you from discussing issues that you’re interested in, but we’d ask you to share your opinion reasonably by providing arguments and sources.

6. Should you quote other users or prominent people in your comments, please clearly reveal the source. When quoting from copyrighted material, ensure that you have the legal right to do so.

7. We will delete any content that may compromise us legally, such as slanderous postings or content posted in breach of copyright.

8. We accept criticism of the things we do and publish but we will not allow intentional misrepresentation of Life Links, Deutsche Welle or our staff.

9. If you have any questions, feedback or criticism, email us at: lifelinks@dw.de. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

10. By participating in our discussions - on our website as well as on our social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook - you acknowledge your agreement with our Community Standards. We reserve the right to block and/or report any user who breaks these rules.

Have fun!
