Beavers, once a staple in the countryside of England, were hunted to extinction there. Now, for the first time in 400 years, beavers are being reintroduced to a few rivers and streams across England — including at a test site in Yorkshire, which experienced devastating flooding in recent years. It's hoped that bringing back these habitat engineers will break the flood cycle.
