How ylang ylang oil fuels deforestation

The Comoros Islands off the coast of Mozambique are also known as the "perfume islands." It's here that ylang ylang oil, a slightly sweet and floral perfume, most famously used in Chanel Number 5, is made. But the sweet scent comes at a cost, and the islands' dependency on agriculture has led to more and more of its lush forests being cut down.
