Living Planet: How safe are dams?

One year ago, on January 25, Brazil's Brumadinho dam collapsed, killing 270 people. Millions of tons of toxic mining waste engulfed houses and waterways. More than 3,700 large dams are currently planned or under construction worldwide. DW speaks to Barnaby Dye, a research associate with the FutureDAMS project at the University of Manchester.
