Mirko Lorenz is a journalist and information architect. He has been a freelancer in the innovation team at Deutsche Welle's New Media department since 2008. Since 2010 he has also worked as a trainer, guest speaker and author for data-driven journalism. He is mainly concerned with stronger integration of data-based research and journalistic methods of data visualization. He contributed several chapters to the Data Journalism Handbook (O'Reilly, 2012). Since 2011 he has also been involved in the development of Datawrapper, an open-source data visualization tool launched by the training center for German newspapers, ABZV. Datawrapper is now regularly used by The Guardian Data Blog, Le Monde, Neue Zürcher Zeitung and many other media outlets in various countries.
