Markus Reher new head of DW Moscow studio

As of July 15, 2012, Markus Reher has assumed leadership of DW's Moscow studio, replacing Alexandra von Nahmen, who will return to Berlin.

Markus Reher, 41, has worked as a freelance correspondent and TV author in Russia since 2006. In the 1990s, he studied Eastern European history, politics and Russian studies in Berlin. After a traineeship at a TV production company in Berlin, he worked for television stations Arte, 3sat, ntv, Sat1 as well as the newspaper Die Welt. While based in Moscow, Reher also reported on the Caucasus region, Ukraine, Belarus and Central Asia - as a freelance journalist, TV reporter and film author for Deutsche Welle, ntv, RTL, Arte and 3sat.

Beginning in June 2007, Alexandra von Nahmen led the DW studio in Moscow. She will now return to Berlin and take up new assignments as a senior DW news editor.
