Meet... Kofi Larweh

Kofi Larweh is collaborating with DW Akademie as a local trainer in Ada, Ghana on various projects. He mainly trains journalists working for community radios.

Kofi Larweh is the lead trainer at the Ghana Community Radio Network, one of DW Akademie's partners in Ghana.

What do you like most about your work with DW Akademie?

DW Akademie has a lot of seasoned international trainers, and organises trainings in partnership with local trainers like me. I learned how to train by working in the field so meeting other trainers helps me to learn and share facilitation knowledge and skills. The truth is, the more DWA trainers I meet on the job, the easier I find my training assignments.

What is the biggest challenge in your work?

I love working with the marginalised and would like to see more women as facilitators. The adage saying that if you educate a woman, you educate a nation, also applies to training. If you train a woman, you train a nation. Often when there is the need to request that there should be an equal number of female and male participants in a training workshop, it is difficult for a lot of organizations to comply readily.

What would you personally like to achieve through your work?

I would like to develop simple but effective tools that make learning participatory and interesting at all levels. Above all, to work for the empowerment of those who are most marginalised, including going where others do not want to work.
