My favorite – Nepal’s Chitwan National Park

If you ask Diwakar Chapagain the almost 1000-square-kilometer patch of land bordering India is very special indeed. The conservation expert has worked in Nepal's Chitwan National Park for nine years. It is the home of many rhinos, elephants and tigers.

With all the talk of endangered species, the value of biodiversity and the usefulness of ecosystems, we sometimes forget why plants and animals are really worth protecting: because we love them, or depend on them for our own wellbeing.
