Not Enough Food For Sri Lankan Refugees

20/11/08November 20, 2008

The Sri Lankan army claimed on Thursday it had broken an important Tamil Tiger rebel defence line. Dozens of LTTE fighters have been killed in the past few days, according to the military. As part of their offensive, troops seem to be approaching the Tiger stronghold of Kilinochchi from different sides. In the meantime, hundreds of thousands civilians are stuck slightly east of the town. They fled their homes in Wanni region as the army started advancing weeks ago. Amnesty International says the government is not providing them with the basic necessities.
