O’Donnell, Amy

Radio Project Manager, FrontlineSMS, London, United Kingdom

Amy O’Donnell works for FrontlineSMS, an organization that builds free, open-source software to assist with the management of text messages. FrontlineSMS supports users to leverage the ubiquity and accessibility of mobile technology to improve the way organizations communicate with their audiences. The software has been used in many contexts around the world, including campaigning, election monitoring, complaints mechanisms, expanding participation in governance discourse and for monitoring and evaluation. O’Donnell joined the team at the beginning of 2011 to lead the FrontlineSMS:Radio project, which focuses on the way radio stations engage their listeners via SMS. Prior to joining FrontlineSMS, she was a project coordinator at the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), where she helped minority groups and indigenous communities to develop human rights campaigns to access international fora, such as the United Nations and European Parliament. She also previously worked for Action Against Hunger and Amnesty International. O'Donnell is based in London, UK, and holds a Master's degree in Human Rights from University College London.
