Welcome Back. A week from today the 2008 Olympic Games will burst into life in Beijing. The Chinese president Hu Jintao has said he believed the games would leave a "positive spiritual legacy". He also made a plea not to politicize the Olympics. But despite Beijing's efforts to keep the spotlight firmly on the athletes, the country's communist leadership has come under fire over a number of issues - from its human rights record in Tibet to its censorship of the internet. Despite this China is determined to put across a positive image of itself on the international stage. Our reporter Sybille Roth went to the Chinese capital for a closer look . +++SYN-MAZ+++
