Out of gas. The cash-for-clunkers car trading program in Germany comes to an end

The money is running out. Here in Germany the cash-for-clunkers car trade incentive is expected to end this Wedesday. The German government forked out five billion euros to tempt drivers to trade in their old cars for new ones. A similar program in the US ended last week. +++LMrein+++ They have been a hit with motorists. Automakers rang up strong sales on both sides of the Atlantic. Here in Germany, the program fueled two million purchases. But now the danger: Anaylsts say sales could come to a screeching halt. The consulting firm Roland Berger predicts half of all car dealers in Germany will go out of business. +++SYN-MAZ+++
