Record overnight stays in Germany

The number of overnight stays from visitors both within and outside of Germany hit a record high in 2015. The figures have risen for the sixth consecutive year.

The Federal Statistical Office recorded 436.4 million overnight stays in 2015 - a three percent rise on the previous high of 424 million registered last year.

The number of overnight stays from foreign visitors to Germany rose five percent to 79.7 million. Overnight stays from visitors within Germany was up two percent to 356.7 million.

The data comes from hotels, campsites and other accommodation offering at least ten beds.
