Chancellor Angela Merkel has praised the work of the Goethe Institute. In her newest video message in the Internet, she said they are more important than ever in today’s era of globalization. Africa is becoming an increasingly important focus of German cultural policy. New branches of the Goethe Insitute are being founded or old ones revived, such as in Tanzania.
