Pep Guardiola was spotted meeting Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness in the Bavarian capital on Tuesday.

The pair met for lunch at a restaurant, where it is believed Hoeness told the three-time Bundesliga winning coach the name of Carlo Ancelotti's successor, according to Sky Sports.

This has led to frenzied speculation of who could take over, with former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel the name on everyone's lips.

Tuchel and Guardiola are friends and it appears likely that the Manchester City coach was advising Hoeness on Tuchel's suitability for the role.

Ancelotti was fired last week after a string of poor results, culminating in a heavy defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Tuchel is not the only name linked with the vacancy at the Allianz Arena. Julian Nagelsmann is the other main candidate, with Louis van Gaal among the other names linked.
