Robots in the Beehive

Bees communicate with each other in complex ways, but the best known of these is what's called the 'waggle dance'.

To find out more, researchers in Berlin developed a robotic bee that was introduced into a hive. Just like a worker bee, it was programmed to 'dance' information about a food source's direction, quality and distance from the hive to its inhabitants.
