Bayern Munich Sporting Director Matthias Sammer has confirmed that the club will sit down with Mario Götze and sort out his future before the end of the season.

The player's long-term future at the club has recently came in to question after the forward suggested he would first see how he fitted in to incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti's plans, before commiting to the club.

However Sammer is optimistic that he can convince the young talent to remain in Bavaria.

He said: "I said it was madness when there were rumours about a transfer in January, whereas Mario was talking about the end of the season.

"Mario's comments were an indication that we will have to sit down at some point in the coming months and discuss his situation. That is only logical."

He added: "I cannot see anything negative about what Mario said. He has put a few things up for discussion and we will clarify everything in the second half of the season.

"A lot of things will have been resolved by then."

Last week Götze confirmed that the "decisive factor" in where he will play his football in the future will be based on the new coach's opinion of him.

"It depends on the club's and the new coach's plans," Gotze told SportBild.

"During my injury time I haven't thought much about that [the future], but as I said, it's all up in the air."
