French president Nicolas Sarkozy is encountering some friction as he visits Ireland to explore ways of reversing its rejection of the European Union reform treaty. The French president, who currently holds the European Council presidency, is discussing the Irish no vote with prime minister Brian Cowen and opposition leaders. Sarkozy is determined to find a way out of the impasse before the E-U summit in October.
