The earth's rainforests provide invaluable benefits for both humans and the climate -  they serve as carbon sinks, provide vital oxygen as well as habitats for a wide variety of animals. But in many regions around the world, illegal logging, poaching and wildfires have taken a heavy toll on rich forest land. In Indonesia, the country’s treasured rainforests are rapidly disappearing. This week on Global Ideas, we explore the different ways environmentalists and policymakers are trying to restore the rainforests to their former glory and prevent further destruction.
