Sharing expertise in a post-truth news world

hosted by The Conversation Global

In the post-truth era, trust in experts is plummeting. But humanity's most complex problems, from violent extremism to food security and climate change, require drawing on the knowledge of researchers and academics.

How can one bridge the gap between experts and the public to create a more informed public debate? This presentation will demonstrate how The Conversation news network brings the insight of researchers around the world to as wide an audience as possible without lecturing or patronizing our readers.

In this session, we will present the ways in which researchers, journalists and online media collaborate with each other, helping them turn complex ideas into easily digestible pieces.  The presenters will demonstrate how published articles reach readers around the world through our Creative Commons license and how we repurpose content in different media formats. We will also touch upon how to pitch stories to media outlets.
