Transatlantic Ties - Is Europe Still Number One for the US?

In his first year in office, US-President Barack Obama declared America an "Asia Pacific nation”. Since then, Europe’s image in the United States has deteriorated: the Euro crisis and perceptions of "European Socialism” have shaped public opinion. Have the US and Europe grown so different that the Old World is loosing its place as the US’ Number one economic, military and cultural ally?
