Study: German Firms Moving Out of Country

Over the next five years, 90 percent of German companies plan to move jobs out of the country, according to a study by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants released Sunday. In the last 10 years, 69 percent of companies said they would move at least some jobs from Germany. Most companies favor countries in eastern Europe and Asia, where labor is cheaper. Of the 70 companies who took part in the survey, 67 percent said foreign workmanship is as good or better than in Germany and 81 percent thought delivery times were faster outside Germany. Half of the companies surveyed were medium-sized businesses, small and large firms each made up 25 percent of the study.
