# People in Afghanistan are preparing to vote in key parliamentary elections on Saturday. The poll is being seen an important test for President Hamid Karzai and his ability to bring stabilty to the country. However the international community is already seeking to lower expectations, admitting the election is unlikely to meet western standards. The Taliban have threatened to stage violent attacks. And there have been allegations of irregularities with voter registration. As our reporter in the region found out, some Afghans have little faith in the democratic process. Many are especially sceptical of plans - backed by the west - to reach out to so-called moderate Taliban.
