The Social Democrats were hoping for a lot more, while the Greens and the Left Party suffered significant losses. The dream of an SPD-Green government has evaporated. Now the only option for either to get into government is to play the role of junior coalition partner to the conservatives, who are currently brimming with confidence -- not an attractive option for either opposition party.
