Well, the fate of American automakers is being followed closely here in Europe of course, where demand for new cars is also sliding downhill. Germany's mighty car companies, the likes of Mercedes, BMW, VW and Porsche, are being forced to react. The German Car Industry Association, the VDA, says that next year new car sales will be the worst in 18 years.
