The German weather service determines how long German airspace will remain closed

All this travel chaos is prompted by the volcanic ash spreading across the continent from Iceland. Iceland says tremors from the volcano have grown more intense -but the plume of ash rising from it has eased back. Nevertheless - it is still hard for scientists to predict how long the eruption will continue - and which way the wind will blow and carry the ash.
