TT Geneva Motor Show: German carmakes try to develop more evironment friendly cars - je 10.03.2008 10

The ideal car would cost little to buy, offer low operating costs, have great safety features and still be a pleasure to drive. And there's one thing it wouldn't do: damage the environment. Efforts to combat climate change are forcing carmakers to soften the environmental impact of their vehicles. Above all, policymakers are demanding a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, particularly CO2. Here in Europe legislation is on the way that will cap those emmissions and penalize automakers who exeed the limits. German manufacturers, who've been very successful selling sports cars and luxury sedans, are having a hard time coming to terms with these enviromental regulations
