Turkey's relations with the US are strained after a Congressional panel accuses it of committing genocide against Armenians

Turkish Prime Reccip Minister Tayyip Erdogan has recalled the country's ambassador to Washington following a U.S. congressional vote to label as "genocide" the massacre of Armenians by Ottoman Turkish forces during World War One. The House Foreign Affairs Committee voted 23 to 22 to approve the non-binding resolution, clearing it for consideration by the full House. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has called the vote a boost for human rights.
