UN agency says Iran met its nuclear deal terms

UN's International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed Iran has met its commitments in a landmark deal signed with six world powers last July. It signals the end of sanctions against Iran.

The UN's nuclear agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that Iran has met commitments it made in last July's landmark nuclear deal with six world powers.

Iran has complied with last July's nuclear deal, the UN atomic watchdog said Saturday, allowing sanctions to be lifted and the landmark accord to enter into force.

The IAEA said that its "inspectors on the ground verified that Iran has carried out all measures required under the (July deal)... to enable Implementation Day to occur."

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the European Union's chief diplomat Federica Mogherini are due to make a statement in Vienna on Saturday evening.

The Iranian delegation met with both EU representatives and a team led by US Secretary of State John Kerry (photo) on Saturday in Vienna.
