In the US presidential race, Senator Barack Obama has made further progress in his campaign to secure the Democratic nomination, after winning decisive victories in three more state contests. Obama took more than two-thirds of the vote in Washington and Nebraska and 55 percent in Louisiana. He now just narrowly trails his rival Hillary Clinton in the delegate count. Later today Maine holds its Democratic caucuses. On the Republican side, former governor Mike Huckabee scored victories in two states over front runner John McCain.
