The American telecommunications and Internet service company VeriSign announced on Tuesday it would buy up the Berlin-based Jamba for €228 million ($273 million) in cash and stocks. Jamba specializes in providing content for mobile Internet connections and the California-based VeriSign offers security services for the Internet. Together, the companies hope to expand into the American and Asian markets. The transaction must first be approved by the German market regulators and is not expected to take place until the end of the second quarter. VeriSign has said it would take over all the 300 German employees.
