Boat crash in Java Sea kills 3

Three bodies have been recovered after a crash in the Java Sea Sunday. The Vietnamese freighter, MV Thaison, was traveling to Tanjung Perak seaport in Surabaya, the capital of East Java.

Rescue crews worked to retrieve missing victims after a Vietnamese freighter and an Indonesian fishing boat collided in the Java Sea Saturday.

Three bodies were found at the crash site by Indonesian search and rescue teams. There are 12 others who are still missing. All of the victims from the crash are from the Indonesian fishing boat, KM Mulya Sejati, which was carrying 27 people. The remaining 12 people on board the fishing boat were rescued and transported to a local hospital.

The Vietnamese freighter, MV Thaison, was traveling to Tanjung Perak seaport in Surabaya, capital of East Java. The freighter was carrying tapioca flour when it hit the KM Mulya Sejati near the Tuban district, according to the head of the local Disaster Mitigation Agency, Joko Loediyono. The MV Thaison is being moored in Lamongan for investigation.
