What holds us back? #firstworldproblems
Life can pretty tough sometimes. Oh yeah, we know that very well. How so, you ask? Well, take a look behind the scenes and see what challenges we are facing. They are only #firstworldproblems, though, we have to admit...

I am crazily impatient. Sometimes that’s handy when it makes me go for things and not take no for an answer, but in the majority of cases I’m driving myself crazy with all the “not good, fast or special enoughs” that my head is churning out. That head also finds it super frustrating not to be able to hang out in two places at the same time. Can someone please get me a “Chill out, chick” tattoo!?

Nobody feels good about themselves all the time. But when the negative feelings about yourself outweigh the good, it is your self-esteem that is suffering. It’s been an ongoing battle for me to overcome my low sense of worth and realize there are things I am good at, and it’s great to have friends and family who can pick me up when I am down - I know not everyone is as lucky.

They may be invisible and intangible but thoughts are powerful little things. Thinking too much and over-analyzing situations or conversations can damage relationships, make you sad or waste your time. But overall I am a very lucky person. One reason is that I have really great friends. When I’m truly overanalyzing something they tell me to: Just! Stop! Thinking!

The biggest troublemaker in my life has always been myself! Over the years I learned to get along with me. Most of the time at least. When other people enter the equation, things get complicated again. Relating to others occupies me a lot. Like, a lot. That affects my self-esteem of course and has a big impact on how I come to terms with myself. And there we are: Back to where the trouble starts!

When I was a student, money was an issue. Now lack of time is holding me back. I get up at 6, make breakfast, bring my kids to school and go to work. When I get home, I’ve an hour or two for dinner, playing with the kids and bringing them to bed. I’d love to spend more time with them, my wife and friends. I’d like to have more time for reading, music and sport. At least I have an exciting job!
