The US currently has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, and deaths, in the world. Some areas have fared better than others — in West Virginia, for example, there are relatively few cases. But the state was still impacted by weeks of lockdown measures. The former mining town of Thomas had reinvented itself as a home for artists. But now the town is again fighting for survival.
