Increasing numbers of people need aid and protection because of conflict and disasters. While more emphasis on confict prevention is needed to avoid humanitarian catastrophes, more stable funding and increased emphasis on local actors can improve efficiency of humanitarian aid, says political scientist and aid expert Martin Quack.
