Before taking office in December 2018, Mexican President López Obrador made a promise to migrants from South and Central America of safety, jobs and visas. But just half a year later, that promise has been broken. The outcome of this radically-altered policy is having real consequences on the southern border of Mexico, as Anne Cathrin Mellman reports.
