Serikali ya Marekani imefungua milango yake leo(17.10.2013) baada ya bunge kupitisha sheria inayomaliza kufungwa shughuli za serikali na kuepusha dakika za mwisho nchi hiyo kushindwa kulipa madeni yake.

Hata hivyo shirika la fedha la kimataifa IMF limeitolea mwito Marekani kufanyakazi zaidi kuweza kudhibiti matumizi ya serikali.

Rais barack Obama alitia saini makubaliano hayo ambayo yamefuata masharti yale yale aliyoyatoa wakati matatizo hayo mawili yalipojitokeza zaidi ya wiki tatu zilizopita , muda mfupi baada ya usiku wa manane leo Alhamis. Bunge la Marekani lilikuwa linakabiliwa na muda wa mwisho hadi saa tano na dakika 59 usiku wa jana kuingia leo Alhamis kupandisha mamlaka ya serikali kuweza kukopa ama waliingize taifa hilo katika hatari ya kushindwa kutekeleza majukumu yake.

Mswada huo sasa unaifungua serikali hadi tarehe 15 mwezi Januari mwakani na unaruhusu wizara ya fedha kukopa hadi Februari 7 mwaka ujao ama huenda kwa muda wa mwezi mmoja zaidi.

Hatua hiyo haijumuishi chochote ambacho wabunge wa chama cha Republican walikidai wakitaka kufutwa ama kupunguzwa kwa mpango wa rais Obama wa kufanyia mageuzi mpango wake wa bima ya afya.

Spika wa baraza la wawakilishi la Marekani John Boehner amesema , "Tumepambana , lakini hatukushinda."

Marekani imekwisha wahi kuwa katika hali kama hiyo hapo kabla, ikisubiri kupata muafaka kuhusu suala la bajeti bila ya kuwa na matokeo ya uhakika. Lakini hii ilikuwa mara ya kwanza katika miaka 17 kwa serikali ya Marekani kufunga baadhi ya shughuli zake muhimu . Mkurugenzi mkuu wa shirika la fedha la kimataifa IMF Christine Lagarde ameyakaribisha makubaliano hayo lakini amesema uchumi wa Marekani unaoyumba yumba unahitaji uimara wa muda mrefu wa bajeti yake.

China na Japan ambazo kila moja inamiliki kiasi cha dola trilioni moja katika hazina ya Marekani, ziliitolea mwito nchi hiyo hapo kabla kufikia makubaliano haraka.
