Somali pirates and captured (now freed) US captain

It is time for the world to start helping the new Somali president to stop this piracy. The country needs help from the international community. This is an important country we ignore because it lacks oil and natural resources. Stabilizing Somalia would help stabilize the region. - Misha Sperka, US

US considers adopting German-style car-scrapping subsidy

The idea is great as far as I am concerned and I hope that President Barack Obama can implement something similar for the United States economy with the incentives on smaller fuel efficient hybrid cars if possible. - Stuart John Pearson, Australia

I really think the government is on to something here but, why not do something similar with older TVs and electronics and appliances? It all would help the economy and also help with energy usage. - Michael Smith, US

US halts deportation of alleged Nazi war criminal John Demjanjuk

Don't the German courts have anything better to do than chase after an 88-year-old man who has been on trial before? What is the background of these lawyers? I would like to see an investigative report of who they are. I am not approving war crimes, but for heaven's sake, how many war criminals are there to catch around the world today? Germany is beginning to look irrational. - B. Watson

German food manufacturers now allowed to "supersize"

German packaging sizes always struck me as being a bit anti-consumer. Germans who have spent time in the US find that deregulation of packaging sizes results in cheaper/less expensive unit prices, not higher [ones]. This deregulation will lead to the sort of more economical packaging found in the US at Wal-Mart, Sams Club, Costco, etc. Welcome to one of the few 21st century developments that advantage the common person.
