Veil Ban Sign of Intolerance?

Banning religious insignia in schools does restrict people's rights. The issue is further exacerbated by the French government's attitude. France may have embraced a secular identity, however enforcing a total ban on religious insignia in schools is forcing everyone to accept and assimilate into the "religion of secularism." My opinion is that this intolerance towards minority faiths in public life is not appropriate for any mature nation abiding by the international human rights conventions. -- Atilla Amir Iftikhar

I wish that my country Australia would also muster enough nationalistic pride to introduce measures like the ban of head scarves in schools. The influx of migrants with different beliefs has made society very divided. In times of world unrest it is impossible to know where the loyalty of these people lie. -- Ken Bayley
