Wolfsburg sacks Magath

With four consecutive losses and minus 10 goals conceded this season, the Wolves are last in the Bundesliga. Now VfL Wolfsburg has announced it is to part company with its coach, manager, and chief, Felix Magath.
"The supervisory board of VfL Wolfsburg and Felix Magath have agreed today to end their cooperation," the club said in a statement.
He is the first coach to be released from a team in the Bundesliga this season. Interim coach Lorenz-Günther Köstner will reportedly fill in for Magath while a replacement is found.
Players were also against Magath
Earlier this week Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Wolfsburg's top sponsor Volkswagen, expressed his concerns to the club's committee board about the decline of the team's performance.
The players, who had met on Tuesday evening to discuss the performance of the team in Magath's absence, were reportedly vocal about the disapproval of their coach.
Magath, Wolfsburg champion trainer in 2009, took over the team in March 2011 for the second time. Despite significant financial investments to transform the team, the club failed to attain any amount of success.
So far this season the Wolves have just five points from their first eight games - the worst start to a season in the history of the Bundesliga VfL Wolfsburg squad.
The club will head into a match on Saturday against Düsseldorf.
