Schweinsteiger out?

It's all change in Manchester, with Germany captain Schweinsteiger seemingly on his way out of Old Trafford, while another German seems set to arrive in the blue half of the city.

Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger has been told by Jose Mourinho that he is not wanted at Manchester United and can start looking for a new club, according to reports in the British newspaper the Daily Mail.

Schweinsteiger was signed last summer by Louis van Gaal, but the Dutchman's successor at Old Trafford is not so keen on the former Bayern Munich star, who he made train with the under-21 squad, along with eight other senior players who are surplus to requirements under Mourinho.

The news will come as a shock to the German World Cup winner, who was a regular at United under Van Gaal until injury in an FA Cup game against Sheffield United in January kept him out for the majority of the rest of the campaign. He recovered in time to make Germany's Euro 2016 squad, but was mainly used as a substitute by Joachim Löw.

Schweinsteiger, who turns 32 on Monday, still has two years to run on his 190,000-euro-a-week deal and United will be hoping another club can come in for him.

Guardiola admits Sane interest

On the other side of Manchester it appears that another German could be arriving, with Schalke's Leroy Sane edging closer to a big money deal.

City boss Pep Guardiola admitted for the first time that City want to sign the 20-year-old after his side's penalty shootout victory over Borussia Dortmund in China.

"Sane is a player from Schalke," he told the press conference. "You know, I know, everyone knows we would like to have him, but at the moment he is a Schalke player. If he comes we'll be happy. If he stays in Schalke, I will be happy for the fans of Schalke."

City has tabled a bid of 41.5 million euros for Sane, but Schalke value their star man at 50 million and are holding out for a higher bid.
