Sarhan Dhouib is a research associate at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Kassel in Germany. After studying philosophy at the University of Sfax in Tunisia and the University Paris 1-Sorbonne, he earned his doctorate at the University of Bremen in German. His doctoral thesis focused on Schelling's philosophy of identity.
In 2011, Dhouib was awarded a philosophy prize by the Goethe Institute for an essay on the human rights discourse in Arab-Islamic philosophy.
With funding awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), he organized an international conference in Tunis in 2011 that convened Arab and German academics on the topics of "Culture, Identity and Human Rights".
In his work, Dhouib focuses on German idealism, human rights discourse, Arab-Islamic philosophy and intercultural philosophy. His most recent publications in German include “Arabisch-islamische Philosophie der Gegenwart” and „Wege in der Philosophie“.
